NATURE

The wood used to produce TENCEL™ Lyocell is sourced from sustainably managed forests, holding the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) certifications.

FIBER

Wood chips are transformed into wood pulp which is later on dissolved and churned into fibers without any chemical derivitization, within a closed-loop system. The solution resulting from dissolving the pulp is spun into continuous strands of filaments that are later cut into staple fibers. The fiber is USDA Certified Biobased Product and TUV certified safe for soil, marine, home, and industrial composting

FABRIC

Our fabrics are Bluesign® , OEKO-TEX, and Organic 100
Content Standard certified. To learn more about this, please
read below in the “Certifications explained” field.

DESIGN

All products are carefully designed and tested before they are finally sent to production. Over 4 months of research is conducted for each product, looking at:

the most healthy to wear and sustainable fabrics;
the user’s movement patters – in order to create a garment
that offers increased mobility;
body heat mapping – so that we can target specific body
regions for ventilation;
perfect fit – for increased breathability, comfort and
maintenance of stable body temperature.

We like to know the people we work with in order to ensure that everyone gets a fair wage and have a healthy work environment. Moreover, we like to have our manufacturing partner as close as possible, in order to reduce CO2 emissions from transportation. So we produce in Romania with a small family-owned business, thereby also supporting the local economy.

For general instructions on how to best take care of your COVVOS products, we recommend you visit https://clevercare.info/en. However, we do have some extra tips for a longerlasting product.

↻ REDUCE WASH & SPOT CLEAN
More than two thirds of your clothes carbon footprint* occurs in your care, part of it when washing. Air your clothes outside when you just need to regain freshness.

↻ USE BIODEGRADABLE DETERGENT
This type of detergent keeps the waterways clean and it’s gentler with your clothes and skin.

↻ USE A LAUNDRY BAG
A bit of extra care will make your garments last longer.

↻ LINE DRY
It’s healthier for your garments to dry naturally. When you can, skip the dryer. It will also reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions.

↻ GREEN DRY-CLEANING
Traditional dry-cleaning uses large amounts of perchloroethylene** or “Perc” which is harmful for humans and the environment. In time it may affect your liver and kidneys. When dry-cleaning, make sure to ask for a non-perc cleaning method.

↻ DISCARD SAFELY
This line of COVVOS sportswear is biodegradable. The clothes are designed to last a long time. So make sure you wear them for many years and when you feel they can no longer be worn, you can place them in compost and they will return safely back to nature.

(*) carbon footprint is a way of measuring the impact on the environment, of a product/activity/person, expressed in units of carbon dioxide produced. Simply put, the amount of CO2 that someone or something generates.

(**) perchloroethylene or “perc” is the main chemical used in dry cleaning. Perc is classified as a “volatile organic compound” (VOC) and is considered to pose a health risk to humans and animals when it is released in the air, water or food.

END OF LIFE

This natural line of COVVOS products are 100% biodegradable in compost – home-made or at an industrial scale. This means that after many years, when you are done wearing our product, you can place it into your home compost or place it at a recycling station for industrial composting, and it will safely return back into nature. Yes, it’s that easy to be responsible
